Wine Box Ceremonies

Wine Box Ceremony I

(The Ceremony Table is directly behind Officiant.  On the Ceremony Table there is a wine box, a bottle of wine, two wine glasses and love letters Couple has written to each other.)

Officiant:  ___(Groom)_____ and ___(Bride)_____, will you please step to the Ceremony Table.

(Officiant steps behind the Ceremony Table.  The Couple steps to the sides of the Ceremony Table.  A musical selection may play softly during the following:)

Officiant: The Couple has chosen to perform a Wine Box and Love Letter Ceremony.  On the table there is a bottle of wine, two wine glasses and a love letter from each to the other.  The couple will be placing the bottle of wine, the two wine glasses and these letters in the box and together they will seal the box.

Officiant: In this way they create there very own "romantic" time capsule to be opened on the happy occasion of their ___(number)_____ anniversary.  At that time, they will unseal the box and open the wine.  Then, while enjoying the glass of wine, they will read these love letters and reflect upon their marriage and the reasons they fell in love with each other.

Officiant: ___(Groom)_____ and ___(Bride)_____, please place the bottle of wine, the glasses and the letters in the box and seal it shut.

(The volume of the music may be turned up as Couple each places their love letter in the box, then together they place the bottle of wine and the wine glasses in the box, then together, seal the box shut.  The music fades and stops as the Couple and Officiant return to their previous places.)

Wine Box Ceremony III —  Family Included

(The Ceremony Table is directly behind Officiant.  On the Ceremony Table there is a wine box and a bottle of wine.)

Officiant:  ___(Groom)_____ and ___(Bride)_____, will you please step to the Ceremony Table.

(Officiant steps behind the Ceremony Table.  Couple steps to the sides of the Ceremony Table.  A musical selection may play softly during the following:)

Officiant: The Couple has written love letters to each other expressing their feelings as they begin their marriage.  These letters detail why they fell in love and what they truly admire about the other person.  Each letter is sealed in an individual envelope, and neither has seen what the other has written.  The Couple will then place these letters along with the bottle of wine and the wine glasses into this box and then, together, they will seal the box.

Officiant: On the happy occasion of their ___(number)_____ anniversary, they will open the box, read the letters and enjoy the wine together.  By reading these love letters, they will be given an opportunity to reflect upon the reasons they fell in love with each other.

Officiant:  Will ___(Name)_____ and ___(Name)_____ (children/parents of Bride and Groom) please bring up the letters?

(The Love Letter Carriers come forward and hand the letters to Couple.)

Officiant: ___(Groom)_____ and ___(Bride)_____, I ask each of you to place your letter in the box and, together, place the bottle of wine in the box, then seal it shut.

(The volume of the music may be turned up as Couple each places their letter in the box and together place the bottle of wine in the box and then, together, seal the box shut.  The music fades and stops as the Couple and Officiant return to their previous places.)

Wine Box Ceremony II — Yearly Letters

(The Ceremony Table is directly behind Officiant.  On the Ceremony Table there is a wine box, a bottle of Champaign, two Champaign glasses, and love letters Couple has written to each other.)

They have written love letters to each other expressing their feelings as they begin their marriage. They have not seen what the other has written.  They will include these letters in this box along with the bottle of Champagne and the two glasses. Then together they will seal this box.

Officiant: Every year on the happy occasion of their anniversary, they will open the box and drink the Champagne while they read the letters. Then they will add a new bottle of Champagne and new love letters to the box along with the old letters; to again be opened on the next anniversary.  As time passes, they will have a record of the yearly reflection on their relationship and a living document of the growth and depth of their ever evolving love.

Officiant: ___(Groom)_____ and ___(Bride)_____, please place the bottle of Champagne, the glasses and your letters in the box and seal it shut.

(The volume of the music may be turned up as the Couple each places their love letter in the box, then together they place the bottle of Champaign and the wine glasses in the box, then together, seal the box shut.  The music fades and stops as the Couple and Officiant return to their previous places.)
